OUR VISION

Gateway Community Partner's mission is to develop, implement or initiate services/supports for person with developmental disabilities and their families. To the maximum degree possible, they should be enabled to live in homes of their own choosing, to develop networks of human relationships and to work in meaningful jobs.

Gateway Community Partner's vision is that developmental disabilities services in the counties that we serve will be a partnership of consumers, family members, service providers, policy makers and community members working to create options responsive to each individual's needs and preferences.

OUR HISTORY

Gateway Community Partners is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors. Formed in 1979 by a group of concerned citizens, Gateway Community Partners began operations of vocational services in a sheltered workshop setting for individuals residing in the community.

In 1985, it began residential services and expanded in 1992 and 1996 to included supervised apartment and supported living programs. Today it operates three day services sites, one in Cherokee County, one in Anderson County, one in Angelina County and multiple group homes/foster care homes, as well as Day Habilitation, job placement and supported living programs in 19 counties.
